Rite Aid 2/27/11-3/5/11

Here are the organic and natural deals you can find at Rite Aid this week!

Alive Adult Vitamins (50-60 count) B1G1 50% off
*I've noted this before: they do (or did) offer organic vitamins, but I do not know if Rite Aid carries them, or even if they're still available.  I've never found them in stores.

Physicians Formula Cosmetics B1G1 50% off
Use $1/1 coupon (2/27/11 SS, regional)

Libman Mops, Brooms & Cleaning Accessories 40% off
Use $2/1 Freedom Mop Video Values coupon
*Note: I LOVE Libman's products!

Roozt Deal: Gorgeous Scarves!

UPDATE: This deal is already sold out! I hope you were able to get one!  (I ordered two! one for me and one as a gift!)

I apologize for another "Daily Deal" post, but I am excited about this one!  Today's deal on Roozt is Isuga scarves.  These scarves 1. Look GORGEOUS, 2. are made from 100% organic cotton, and 3. support a great cause!  For every scarf purchased Isuga feeds one school child for one day.  And for $18 you can order a $45 scarf with free shipping! I plan to order one for a friend, possibly as a Christmas present. As of now there are 26 "deals" still available.

I have ordered from Roozt before (coffee for hubby) and was pleased with the service.  Please share your experiences with us as well!

Disclosure: This post contains affiliate links, which means I may earn some form of credit from Roozt if your order after clicking through my link.  If you prefer, please type the URL directly into your browser.

Eversave: Yummy snacks, cheap!

Today's "save" from Eversave (Harrisburg & Wilkes-Barre, as well as others, I think) is $40 in treats from Peeled Snacks for $20.  Using the code available on Eversave's Facebook page reduces this by an additional $2, and I believe first time orders also receive a $2 discount, so possibly as low as $16 for a $40 gift code! You can purchase up to three codes, but can only use one per purchase.  Shipping is a flat $7, or free with orders over $65 (I am unsure if that applies to orders using the Eversave codes).

Peeled Snacks offers a variety of dried fruit snacks including mango, apple and pineapple.  (I wish they had strawberry!)  These are certified organic with no added sugar.  I have never tried them, so I cannot vouch for their flavor. Please let us know how they are if you've had them!

Giant PA 2/27/11-3/5/11

Here are the natural and organic deals at Giant this week. Please let me know if I am missing anything!

Nature's Promise Clamshell Salads (7 oz) $3.49

Organic Portabella Mushrooms (6 oz) $3.49

Organically Grown Apples (red or golden delicious, gala, granny smith, or fuji) $1.99/lb
* Only $0.30/lb more than the conventional price!

Nature's Promise Whole Chicken $1.49/lb
*Note: As far as I can tell, this is equivalent to Perdue's new "USDA verified" option. The chickens are fed a vegetarian diet, etc. Also, I have a raincheck for $1.29/lb, so these do go lower!

Nature's Promise Port Tenderloin $6.49/lb

Nature's Promise Beef Eye Round Roast $4.69/lb

Also advertised in the ad is their month-long catalina deal: spend $100 on frozen food (with a few exceptions), receive a $25 catalina good on a future order!  The ad states that this is after all discounts, but it has been reported that people are receiving at least partial before-coupon credit.  This tracks on the bottom of your receipt, so you can always buy what you plan on buying and keep an eye on your total-- if I'm close to $100 at the end of March I'll pick up a few extras to bump me over.  I will explore Giant's frozen section more closely and report back on what I find- the only organic frozen item I know Giant carries for certain is Alexia french fries. Shopping Trip!

I had a pretty good shopping trip last night- bought over $100 worth of merchandise for about $60.  I do not have any pictures because I wanted to put the cold stuff away as soon as I got home (it had been sitting in the car for 45+ minutes while I stopped at the gym).

Minus $0.30/1 Chobani ($0.60 off)
Minus $0.50 off $6 Frozen Giant coupon
Minus $0.50 off Nature's Promise Giant coupon
Paid: $42.76

That's a pretty good representation of a typical shopping trip for me right now: a mix of good deals (fruit strips, clearance items, Bertolli) and things we needed (Rhodes rolls, ice cream salsa), and a mix of organic and conventional. I'm a little embarrassed to admit buying the Velveeta, it's barely food, let alone organic or natural, but hubby likes it, and I hadn't bought him any in a while. Oh, and the dog food is for my mother's dog- when I find food and treats at a good price I often pick them up for her.

Fail: Target Coupons

UPDATE: Apparently, Target DOES sell an organic Archer Farms FROZEN tomato soup (17.3 oz), currently on sale for 2/$4.  You can use the $1/2 Target coupon to make it $1.50 each! I didn't think to check my store's frozen section for soup, so I don't know if this is available only at Super Target or all stores.  I will check later.  Thanks Totally Target!

I finally had a chance to stop at Target last night to scope out the options for the new coupons, and I was pretty disappointed.  There are no organic options in frozen veggies, oatmeal, pasta sauce, pasta or soup at my local (non-Super) Target. Also, my store did not have the Wolfgang Puck soup yet.  I hope they do start carrying it!

I already knew about it, but there are two organic Archer Farms salsas: chipotle (medium) and cilantro (mild).  These run $2.99 each regular price.  I have a jar of the chipotle at home, but we have not tried it yet.  Is it any good?

Hidden Valley Ranch Coupon

Here's another one that's all over the blogs today: if you register and submit a review of one of their products or recipes, you can print a coupon for $1/1 Hidden Valley Ranch dressing. This is available in organic at most Target stores, I believe, but I do not remember what it retails for.  I tried a bottle of it a while back and I am not a fan.  I'm more of a blue cheese girl, though!

Although there's a post about this on most of the blogs I read, and I have no idea which one was first, I'll say thanks for Organic Deals & Coupons for this one!

Rite Aid: Up Reward on Tinted Lip Balm

I believe this is a new product, so I have not tried it yet, but I received an email from Rite Aid indicating that they are offering a $1 Up+ Reward on Burt's Bee's Tinted Lip Balms purchased between 2/25/11 and 2/28/11. (I believe those are the dates. The fine print on the email is very difficult to read!)

CVS Deals 2/27/11-3/5/11

Here are the upcoming CVS deals.  Please leave a note if you notice something I missed!

Physicians Formula Cosmetics Get $7 ECBs wyb $10
* There are lots of potentially good deals here.  There are organic mascaras with pink Try Me Free rebate tags (they're $9.99, but should generate the ECBs, I believe).  I have also noticed new products with $3 or $4 peelies.  Hope you find something good!

Kashi (Go Lean or Heart to Heart cereals & TLC Bars 2/$6, get $2 ECBs wyb 2
*Note that I do not believe that these varieties of Kashi include their organic choices.

New Target Coupons

Target put some great new coupons up on their website on Sunday!

$1/1 Seventh Generation Diapers, Feminine Care or Cleaners (expires 3/26/2011)
Stack with: $1/1 Seventh Generation Product (1/23/11 SS, expires 4/23/11)
OR Stack with Seventh Generation IPs (requires registration)
*This stack will get you dish soap for about $0.60 (regular $2.59 or so at Target), as well as cheap household cleaners.  Given the long expiration date on these I am going to hold on to them and hope for a sale!

$1/1 Wolfgang Puck Organic Soups (expires 3/26/2011)
Stack with: $1/1 Wolfgang Puck IP (from Walmart.com)
*Reportedly these have been see for as low as $1.99 at Target, so possibly as low as free with the coupons, but they may be as much as $2.99 each.  They're about $2.50 at Giant, and I have yet to see that at my local Targets, but I'll keep my eye out.  These soups are very good, by the way!

There are also a number of new coupons for Archer Farms products, some of which are organic.  I know for a fact that Archer Farms offers organic salsa, chips, pizzas and fruit leathers.  Here's what's available:

$1/4 Market Pantry or Archer Farms Pasta (expires 3/26/11)

$1/4 Market Pantry or Archer Farms Frozen Vegetables (expires 3/26/11)

$1/2 Archer Farms® Soup (dry mix or 17.3 oz) (expires 3/26/11)

$1/2 Archer Farms® Pasta Sauce (expires 3/26/11)

$1/2 Archer Farms or Market Pantry Instant Oatmeal (expires 3/26/11)

.50/1 Archer Farms® Italian Soda (expires 3/26/11)

$1/2 Market Pantry® or Archer Farms® Salsa (expires 3/26/11)

I will check at Target in the next few days and update this with what products are available and their prices!

EOS Lip Balm Free After ECBs!

Yay!  I love EOS's adorable lip balm spheres, and you can pick one up for free at CVS this week.  They're priced at $2.99, and you get $2.99 in ECBs back on your receipt.  You can choose between summer fruit (100% natural, 95% organic) or lemon drop SPF 15 (100% natural).  I picked up the summer fruit today to make sure the deal worked before I posted it.  I considered buying the lemon drop for the SPF, but lemon's not a favorite flavor of mine.  Lip balm with sun protection is a definite necessity, though.  I have experienced sun-burnt lips more than once- I looked like I had collagen injections! Not fun.  ANYWAY, I believe you have until the end of the week to pick up your free lip-balm! Enjoy!

P.S.- I've read about this deal on all sorts of blogs, as well as AFC at this point, so I don't know who to "thank" for this one!

Groupon: Nature's Prime Organic Foods

For another nine hours or so you can get $75 worth of organic foods from Nature's Prime for $35 on Groupon.  I apologize if that link doesn't take you directly there, I can't see to get it to go where I want it to!  For me this deal is listed on the right under "More Great Deals Nearby."  If it's not there, try refreshing.

ANYWAY, Nature's Prime offers mainly organic meats, cheeses, and coffee.  They have been featured on Groupon before, and I've considered it, but I've never made a purchase.  I am sure my husband would appreciate the various steaks, and organic, grass-fed beef is difficult to find in this area.  Shipping is a flat $15 for orders under $100, and free for orders over $100 (so basically you can spend $15 on shipping or get another $25 worth of product and free shipping).  The Groupon is good only on regular prices, and it looks like you may have to place your order over the phone in order to use the Groupon discount code.

Note: This post contains affiliate links, which means I may receive some sort of credit for referring you to the website.  If you prefer I didn't, you can just type the URL into your browser manually.

Nature's Promise Organic Apples $4.49

New Jasmere Gallery = MORE savings!

Jasmere has added a new "Gallery" feature to their website that shows the merchants that have been featured on the site since 2009.  Right now the gallery includes links offering 30% off coupon codes to three past merchants: Fracture (unique photo gifts), Grounds for Change (coffee), and Olive Smart (reusable bags).

I cannot say much about Fracture or Olive Smart, but my husband and I will be making use of the Grounds for Change code this weekend!  He first tried their coffee when it was a Jasmere feature and it has been one of his favorites! I may check out Olive Smart too, but I have an over-abundance of reusable bags, so I doubt I'll order any now.  Has anyone used this company before?

Delicious Oranges on Jasmere!

I am a little tardy to the party getting this posted (my in-laws were here this weekend. does that get me some sympathy points?), but this weekend's deal on Jasmere is from The Orange Shop.  You can order a half or full bushel, and choose between temple oranges or sugar belles, or get a mix of both.

Right now the half bushel (~20 pounds; 24-36 oranges) is going for $19, and the full bushel (~40 pounds; 48-72 oranges) is priced at $30.  A shipping charge of $12.95 per box will be added to all orders, so the full-bushel is a better deal (and what I just ordered!). Don't forget to use the coupon code SAVE11 to save another 11%.

I purchased oranges from this company back around the holidays when it was featured on Jasmere, and they were absolutely delicious.  Very juicy!  I finished my share of the half-bushel I purchased in about 2 weeks- the oranges seem to store very well.

Note: This post contains affiliate links, which means I may receive some sort of credit for referring you to Jasmere.  As always, I appreciate you using my link but, if you'd prefer, you can type the URL directly into your browser.

Jasmere: Interactive Shirts in Organic Cotton!

Today's Jasmere feature is Creative Director clothing-- they're offering children's t-shirts made with 100% organic cotton.  Each t-shirt comes with a removable piece (i.e.- the alligator above).  Personally, I like this one better; very cute! The shirts are printed by hand using water-based inks.

Currently the prices stands at $14 per shirt (regularly $30 each on the website), plus a $5 shipping charge per mailing address.  There is a limit of 5 shirts per person. Considering Disney is offering their organic t-shirts for $8 right now, regularly around $12, I think that's a pretty good price from a small company, and remember it could go lower before the deal closes at noon tomorrow.  ALSO, to sweeten the deal, use the code SAVE11 at checkout to save another 11%!

Disclosure: Links in this post are affiliate links, meaning I receive some sort of credit for referring new customers to Jasmere.  If you prefer, you're always welcome to type the address directly into your browser, but I certainly would appreciate the support!

I was bad today...

We're having breakfast for dinner tonight (pancakes! yum!), but we're out of eggs.  I normally buy organic eggs, but today that would have required wasting my lunch hour getting in the car, driving to Weis, fighting the usual lunchtime crowd and dealing with the ensuing stupidity.... but it's GORGEOUS out today. So... instead I walked downtown and bought my eggs (non-organic, and probably pricier than grocery store) at CVS. I did walk instead of driving, so perhaps this one is a wash.

There must be a lesson in here somewhere... 'you see, we learned something today...' (kudos to all who recognize that reference...)... but I'll leave that for another time. For now, enjoy the sunshine!
Imagine from the Educational Materials Center... because I like it.  Looks like the sun's up to something!

CVS 2/20/11-2/26/11

It's another slow week at CVS for organic and natural deals...

Alive Vitamins B1 G1 50% off
Use $1/1 IP coupon
* Alive vitamins are available in organic options, but you may not find them at CVS. I haven't seen them in stores in, but I believe they're available in some areas.

CVS Earth Essentials Toiler Paper (12 pack) $5.47
* I still haven't tried this product, so I don't know how it compares to Marcal or other recycled brands in quality.  I am usually able to pick up a 12 pack of Marcal for $4 after coupon, so I'm not convinced this is a good deal anyway, unless the sheet count is higher.

DisneyStore.com: Free Shipping and Organic Options!

DisneyStore.com is offering free shipping on ANY ORDER through 2/20/2011.  After seeing this offer on Couponing to Disney I went to the Disney Store website to shop around, and remembered that they offer organic clothing.  There is a nice selection of organic cotton t-shirts, including recent favorites (Tangled, Toy Story 3, etc).  There are also some organic cotton baby gifts.  I settled on a Pooh & Piglet gift set for my cousin's upcoming baby shower, and a Marie t-shirt for  my niece.  I am also picking up three Christmas Mickey reusable totes to use instead of disposable gift bags and wrapping paper next year.

I am ordering through Ebates, which means I'll get 5% of my purchase price credited back to my Ebates account. It's only $1.25, but I'll take it!  If you've never heard of it, Ebates is a website that offers its users credit for their online purchases.  The percentage varies, but if you click through the Ebates website to get to an online retailer, they'll credit your Ebates account and send you a check quarterly (Note: there must be more than $5.01 in your account before they'll send a check).

Note: Some links in this post are referral links, meaning I receive some sort of credit for referring new users.  If you prefer, you can type the link directly into your browser instead.  Of course, I appreciate your crediting me for referring you, but it's up to you! Thanks!

Newman's Own Facebook Coupon

If you "like" Newman's Own on Facebook you can print a $1/1 coupon.  Just click the "Coupon" tab to access the coupon, which is a Bricks IP.  I was able to print it twice.  Newman's Own offers organic pasta sauces, salad dressings, and drinks, as well as a variety of non-organic products.

Personally, I haven't had much like finding their organic products in stores.  I have seen Newman's Own Organics brand products at Giant, but I believe this is technically a separate company, so this coupon would not be valid on those.

Rite Aid 2/13/11-2/19/11

Giant (PA) 2/13/11-2/19/11

Here are the organic and natural options on sale at Giant this week.  If I miss anything, please mention it in the comments!

Nature's Promise Organic Baby Carrots (16 oz) $1.79
* The price at Weis is a bit better this week, although probably not worth an extra stop.

Nature's Promise Grape Tomatoes $3.49

Nature's Promise Organic Pretzels- Honey Wheat or Oat Bran (8 oz) 2/$4

Nature's Promise/Laura's Lean Ground Beef $3.99/lb

Nature's Promise Boneless Rib Eye $9.99/lb

Nature's Promise Boneless Chicken Breast or Tenders $3.99/lb

Back to Nature Nuts (10-11 oz) $4.99
* Not organic, but no preservatives or additives.

Hormel Natural Choice Lunchmeat (8 oz) or Chicken (6 oz) 2/$5

Stonyfield Yogurt 4/$3
Use $0.50/3 IP (available from Stonyfield)
OR Use $1/5 coupon (2/6/11 SS, expires 3/13/11)

Honest Kids Juice (8 pack) 2/$6
* I don't love the packaging, but when I'm running late in the AM (always) and bring my breakfast on the run, I like to have my juice!

Starbucks Coffee $6.99
Use $1/1 coupon (11/21/10 SS, expires 2/28/11)
* I don't know if Giant carries any of the organic Starbucks varieties.

Organix Shampoo or Conditioner $3.99

Libman Mops, Brooms or Refills 20% off
Submit for $5 Freedom Mop rebate
* Libman offers the "Wonder Mop" and the "Freedom Mop" (a great alternative to Swiffers, IMHO), both of which are washable. I have been using a Wonder Mop and have been really happy with it.  I recently bought a Freedom Mop, but haven't tried it yet! Also, note that Libman products will be 40% off at Rite Aid coming up, and the Freedom Mop goes for about $23 there. I'm not sure of Giant's shelf price, so I don't know which is the better deal.

GE Extra Soft White CFL Bulbs (2 pack) $4.99
Use $1/1 coupon (1/9/11 SS, expires 3/5/11)
* Part of the 'Buy 4 & Save $0.20/gal on Gas' deal
* Note these are free after coupon (Limit 4) at Rite Aid this week!

Weis Markets 2/13/11-2/19/11

Here are the natural and organic deals for Weis Markets this week.  I also started compiling the Weis "shopping list" over the weekend and am probably about 20% through the store.  There are a lot of hidden choices at Weis!

Ragu Pasta Sauce (16 or 26 oz) 2/$3
Use $1/2 or $0.75/1 coupon (1/30/11 RP, expires 2/27/11)
* I do not know if this includes Ragu's organic version, or if Weis even sells it (I didn't get to that aisle yet!). I am spoiled by a husband who makes all our pasta sauce.

Perdue USDA Process Verified Chicken Breasts 33% off
Use $1/2 coupon (1/30/11 RP, expires 3/27/11)
Use $0.75/1 coupon (1/23/11 RP, expires 3/20/11)
* Here's another product where I'm caught deciding between if this is a better option than others, or if this is just more green-washing.  Apparently Perdue feeds these chickens an all-vegetarian diet (what are other chickens eating?!), use no animal by-products (is that what the other chickens are eating? yum.) and they're raised cage-free. That's all the USDA is verifying here, so this doesn't guarantee that they're not using excess anti-biotics, or that the feed is organic. So... better than other choices, maybe. Are there better options? Probably. Off my soap box now...

Olivia's Organics Salads 2/$7
Use $1/1 coupon here

Bunny-Luv Organic Baby Carrots 3/$5

Bionaturae Pastas (16 oz) $2.99

Naked Juice 2/$5

Melitta Coffee Filters (100 count) 2/$5
* Melitta offers some of their filters without bleaching or processing, as well as filters made from renewable bamboo.

That's about all I see in the Weis ad this week.  If I missed anything, please mention it in the comments.  I should add that I am mainly focusing on organic options, or more natural options were organic is hard to find or non-existant. If you would prefer I be more inclusive, please let me know!

Horizon Organic Milk

Good afternoon!

I just saw this on Organic Deals & Coupons:

Amazon has a 12 pack of Horizon Organic Vanilla Milk singles on sale for $9.47 (after subscribe and save), which works out to $0.79 each.

And the Horizon Organic Chocolate Milk singles (18 pack) on sale for $14.02 (after subscribe and save), or $0.78 each.

In my (limited) opinion, these prices are on par with grocery store prices, so not a spectacular deal, but they are being delivered right to you door for a good price. I have seen four packs (of Organic Valley singles) regular price for $3.75-$4.50, so with a $1/1 coupon they're $0.68-$0.87 each. And I believe I have seen the 12 packs on sale for $9.99 at Giant, but don't quote me on that (so $0.75 each after $1 coupon).  I know I recently bought a 3 pack of Horizon Strawberry singles for $2.79 (less $1 coupon) at Target, so $0.59 each.

Our Organic Efforts

One of my goals in writing this blog is to track our progress as we move toward consuming more natural and organic products.  There will be a permanent link to this list in the "About Me" section, and I will keep it up to date as we incorporate new products into our lives. The list below reflects what I am buying now, but I should note that I have a "stockpile," especially of health & beauty items, from shopping in 2010 that mainly contains conventional products, and at this point I do not plan to dispose of or donate the bulk of it (this will be a topic for another day).

Mostly Organic
We buy organic/non-GMO/more natural options for these products most of the time:
Fresh Produce (apples, oranges, grapes, potatoes, salad, carrots, garlic...)
Yogurt
Tortilla Chips
Tomato Products (canned)
Coffee
Salsa
Peanut Butter
Jelly & Jam
Mac & Cheese
Soups
Rice
Shampoo/Conditioner (women's)
Body Lotion
Body Wash (women's)
Shave Cream (women's)
Lip Balm
Hand Soap
Laundry Products
Household Cleaners
Toilet Paper
Paper Towels/Napkins (although I'd like to transition to using more cloth)

Some Organic
We buy organic/non-GMO/more natural options for these products about half the time:
Milk (locally I have to choose between non-organic in recyclable packaging and organic in non-recyclable containers. very frustrating.)
Spices
Flour/Sugar
Eggs
Chicken & Meat
Frozen/Canned Vegetables
Salad Dressing
Condiments
Cereal
Snacks (popcorn, chips, crackers, cereal bars etc)
Cookies & Candy
Face Wash

Non-Organic
We rarely buy organic/non-GMO/more natural options for these products at this time:
Cheese (has been cost-prohibitive so far)
Sour Cream/Cream Cheese
Juice
Soda
Pasta
Bread
Toothpaste/Mouthwash
Body Wash (men's)
Shampoo/Conditioner (men's)
Shaving Gel (men's)
Feminine Hygiene Products
Vitamins

What about you?  How do you decide what to buy organic and when to go conventional?

CVS 2/13/11-2/19/11

Here are the organic and natural CVS deals for this week.  I also hope to have the CVS shopping list up soon!

Honest Tea 3/$3
Get $1 ECBs wyb 3 (Limit 1)

Neutrogena Naturals (prices starting around $4)
Get $2 ECBs wyb 1 (Limit 1)
* This is a new product line, and I don't know much about it.  The Neutrogena website touts that these contain no harsh chemicals, sulfates, parabens, petrochemicals, dyes or phthalates... but how natural they actually are is up in the air.  I did run the lip balm through the EWG Cosmetics Database and it was given a "low risk" score.  One concern is "flavor" on the ingredient list- not being very specific there, are they?

Physicians Formula Make-Up B1 G1 50% off
* Look for all natural mascara with a small, pink try me free tag!

Yum!

I just finished my breakfast (oh the excitement. I know.), and it was delicious!  I had bought a cup of Dr. McDougalls Peach Raspberry Oatmeal & Barley and grabbed it to take this morning because I lounged in bed too long.  So yummy!  It cost $1.50 on sale, if I remember correctly, from Wegmans.  I just checked out the company's website and it look like they offer four flavors: Cranberry Muesli, Apple Cinnamon, Maple 4 Grain and the Peach Raspberry.

The Apple Cinnamon and Maple 4 Grain look like they're USDA Organic, while the cranberry and the peach raspberry use organic grains.  They sell a variety of other products as well, but this is the first time I tried anything from this brand.

You can order them from the website for $11.94 for 6 (plus shipping, I imagine), and it looks like Amazon carries these as well, for as low as $8.50 for 6 with subscribe and save on the peach raspberry.  The disposable packaging doesn't thrill me, but a nice treat when you're running late.

Coupons.com Update

I was doing some printing today and noticed a few goodies on Coupons.com that I did not mention before:

8th Continent Soy Milk $1/1
* 8th Continent is not certified organic as far as I know, but they do claim to use non-GMO soy in all their flavors except Complete Vanilla.

Filippo Berio Olive Oil $1/1
* Filippo Berio offers an organic version.  We have been using it for several months and have been happy with the flavor.

Also:
Wolfgang Puck Organic Soups $1/1
* These are apparently coming to Walmart's shelves!  These retail in the $2.50-$3 range at Giant PA, so it will be interesting to see how they're priced at Walmart. (thanks Organic Deals & Coupons!)

Burt's Bees Bonus

Burt's Bees is currently offering a free moisturizing kit with any $30 order using the coupon code MOISTURE.  The kit includes Milk & Honey Body Lotion, Peppermint Foot Lotion, Banana Hand Creme and Lemon Butter Cuticle cream.  I know the full size lotion typically retails for around $10. I am unsure of the price of the other products in stores, but on the Burt's Bees website the full size foot lotion and hand creme are $9, and the full size cuticle cream is $6.  When added to your cart this is listed as a "moisturizing samples kit," however, so I am not sure what size the free products are.  This coupon code expires on 2/19/11.

Today's Eversave: Marshmallows!

Today's "save" for the Wilkes-Barre area on Eversave is organic/natural marshmallows from 240Sweet.  For $7, or $5 if this is your first purchase, (plus $6.25 shipping) you receive a package containing their three most popular flavors: very vanilla bean, salty caramel, and elephant ear (cinnamon & sugar).  They have some other flavors that sound good as well, but are not part of this deal (peanut butter & jelly? strawberry daquiri?  Yum!).

I haven't decided if I am buying this or not... on one hand, the marshmallows sound delicious, on the other hand, marshmallows are not something I need to be spending money on right now, nor are they something I need to be eating!

Organic Coffee on Jasmere

Today's Jasmere feature is three 8 ounce bags of organic coffee from Liga Masiva.  This is a sampler box of sorts, so it comes with three roasts: light, light/dark and darker, as well as a brewing guide.  My husband is the coffee drinker in our house, and he has not tried this company's coffee yet (although now he will be!).  He is currently drinking Doma coffee which I purchased from Roozt and he is really enjoying it.  That coffee was about $22 (including shipping) for two pounds.

Liga Masiva roasts their beans, which are from the Dominican Republic, in small batches.  These are organically grown, and Liga Masiva pays their farmers a fair rate that is nearly twice what they would be paid for their beans on the open market.

Right now the Jasmere price is $18 plus $6 shipping for 1.5 pounds, which works out to $16/lb. On the Liga Masiva website, a 12 ounce bag retails for $14.99 plus $4 shipping (about $25/lb), so this is nearly 50% off already, and that price should go down as more people purchase this deal, and you'll be charged the lowest price no matter what time you purchase.

Note: Links contained in this post are referral links-- meaning that I receive some sort of credit for referring you to the website.  If you prefer, you're welcome to type the website directly into your browser instead (but I certainly appreciate it if you choose to use my link! Thanks!)

Rite Aid 2/6/11-2/12/11

It's a decent week for organic and natural shopping at Rite Aid this week, especially in comparison to CVS, where there's bupkis!  That being said- please check your ad before heading out (you can view the ad using your zipe code on the Rite Aid website), as some of these deals may be regional.

Giant PA 2/6/11-2/12/11

Here are the natural and organic deals at Giant this week.

Nature's Promise Spinach, Spring Mix or Romaine (16 oz) $5.79

Nature's Promise Organic Grape Tomatoes (pint) $2.99

Nature's Promise Organic Navel Oranges $4.99
* I bought these a couple weeks ago and they were juicy and delicious, BUT check your bag carefully! Some of the bags I looked at had moldy oranges in them! Yuck!

Nature's Promise Organic Salsa 2/$4

Nature's Promise Whole Chicken $1.29/lb
* My "buy" price for Purdue whole chicken was $0.99/lb, so I think this is a good price.  The ads lists it as $0.70 off per pound.

Nature's Promise Boneless Pork Chops $4.99/lb
* I never buy pork, so I don't know if this is a good price.

Nature's Promise Beef Hot Dogs (16 oz) $4.49
* I buy Applegate Farms hot dogs and have paid about this price for a package, so this is likely a decent price if you need them.

Seventh Generation Dish Soap 2/$5
Use $1/1 coupon (1/23/11 SS, expires 4/23/11)
OR Use IP from Seventh Generation website (requires registration)
* I have been able to buy this for less than $1 in the past, so not a stock-up price, but a good deal if you're running low.

Eco-Friendly Kids Products

Today's "Deal of the Day" (well, deal of the weekend, actually) on Jasmere is Miss Brittany's Organic Preschool.  Miss Brittany's sells a number of eco-friendly items, including organic fun dough (think Play-Doh), which is made with organic flour and oil.  The site also sells 100% biodegradable cookie cutters made from corn and really cute colored pencils made of branches trimmed from Tamarind trees in Asia.

Right now the price is $14 for a $30 voucher to the website, but this price may go lower as more people purchase the deal.  Even if you buy now, you won't be charged until the deal is over and the price is set.  You can purchase up to five vouchers, but they cannot be used on shipping (which starts at $4.95, and is apparently about $9 for most $30 orders).

I have never tried these products, so I cannot vouch for them, but I have made a number of purchases through Jasmere (including organic coffee, eco-friendly lip balms, and oranges) and I have been happy with all of them.

CVS 2/6/11-2/12/11

It's a slow week for organic and natural products at CVS.  Here's what I see- if you notice anything else, please let us know in the comments!

CVS Picnic Tableware B1G1 Free
This appears to include their "Earth Essentials" line, which is supposed to be more eco-friendly. I do not know much about the products, and reusable is so much better... but if you need paper plates, perhaps this is a better choice than most!

CVS Earth Essentials Toilet Paper- 12 rolls $5.49 (Limit 3)
Reusable is, uh, less of an option here, so this may be a good choice.  We mainly use Marcal Small Steps, and I cannot vouch for the quality of this toilet paper, nor it's eco-friendliness, but perhaps I will check it out and let you know!

Cheap Chocolate!

Visit Green & Black's Facebook page to access a $1/1 coupon for their organic chocolate.  (Note: this coupon prints with an expiration date 2 weeks after the print date.)

I have seen these chocolate bars retail for $2.50-$3, so this coupon definitely helps.  I am partial to their white chocolate bar- in fact, I bought one last night!  Yum!

Swagbucks Friday!

Good morning!

It's "mega" SwagBucks Friday, which means a chance at higher SwagBucks values for your searches.  If you're not familiar, Swagbucks is a search tool that randomly awards users points for searches (as well as for other activities, including some purchases).  The points are redeemable for prizes, gift cards and sweepstakes entries.  My favorite is a $5 Amazon.com credit for 450 SwagBucks, which can be used to do some organic grocery shopping on Amazon!

You can go here to sign up if you're interested!  Please note that this is my referral link, so clicking it and signing up will give me credit for referring you to SwagBucks.  If you'd prefer, you can go directly to the website and sign up instead.

Good luck!

Starbucks Coupon

Good morning!

Click here for a $1.50/1 coupon for Starbucks bagged coffee.  Starbucks offers several organic versions, including their Organic Shade Grown Mexico (available only at Starbucks stores), Organic Blue Java, and Organic Peru Tingo Maria.  These varieties are not available everywhere, but you can check for locations that carry them from the Starbucks website.  They also have several varieties tagged with their 'Starbucks Shared Planet' program, some of which are fair-trade certified, so those may be good choices as well.

Personally, I don't drink coffee at all.  My husband does, and he has found that the smaller companies offering organic and fair trade coffees (such as Grounds for Change) have a better flavor than Starbucks and the like.  Please let us know what you think in the comments!

Burt's Bees Grab Bags

Burt's Bees is currently offering "grab bags" with a listed value of $50 for $25. These seem to get mixed reviews on their website, so buy at your own risk! I have never purchased one of these sets, but if you have please let us know what you thought in the comments!
